Minnix Files for Kansas House

Scott County native, Jim Minnix, today, filed for the Kansas House of Representatives. He seeks the 118th House district, which includes Gove, Lane, Logan, Scott, Sheridan, Trego and Wichita counties as well as parts of Graham, Rooks and Thomas counties.

“I’ve spent decades working at the local level to find solutions to the challenges facing our rural communities,” said Minnix. “If we can find ways to be more fiscally responsible and lower property taxes here at home, there is no reason the state can’t do the same.”

Jim has been deeply involved in his community, serving 25 years as a Scott County Commissioner. During that time, he served as President for the Southwest Kansas Highway Officials, the Kansas Legislative Policy Group and the Kansas County Commissioner Association. Jim was a founding member of the Scott Community Foundation and has served  as Chairman of the Scott County Republican Party.

“You can count on me to fight for our rural Kansas values and always vote to protect life, defend the second amendment and support our agriculture community,” said Minnix.

Jim and his wife Eilene, a veterinarian, live in Scott County where Jim farms and ranches. He is a 1972 graduate of Scott Community High School and has a Bachelors in Ag Econ and Masters in Business Administration from Kansas State University. They have three children and three grandchildren. They are active in Prairie View Church, where Jim serves as a Deacon.
